The JROTC Program’s mission is “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens”.
At Liberty Magnet High School, we live by this mission through leadership, discipline, and service. Enrolling in JROTC gives you skills that go beyond the classroom. From college to real-world scenarios, cadets will gain confidence, character, and competence to lead in any situation.
The LMHS Army JROTC participates in various projects that include the community, including learning service projects, parades, and Junior Achievement events.
Service Learning Projects
Cadets will be able to take their knowledge from the JROTC curriculum and share it with their community. This may be something as, hosting events at Liberty Magnet to teach their fellow students their knowledge on the JROTC curriculum or visiting nearby schools to teach students and introduce them to engaging topics from the JROTC curriculum.
Parades
Cadets take an active role in planning and executing parades in various locations, ranging from local neighborhoods to downtown venues. They will plan for problems that can occur and will map out how to act accordingly if issues do arise. Cadets will also map out their schedule for the parade and see what equipment is needed for the project. At the parade, cadets behave on their best behavior and show professionalism. During the parade, cadets will represent their program by marching until they have finished the parade, showing their drill skills and their unity.
Junior Achievement
Cadets take on the role of instructors and role models to teach younger students at other schools. The lessons that cadets may go over are basic budgeting and saving strategies, proper communication, and goal-setting. From these experiences, cadets will develop and improve their public speaking skills, reinforce their own understanding of key concepts, and build connections with their community.
