Hey, my name is Richard Rivas-Lobo and I am the deputy commander of the drill team for the 2024-2025 school year. I am a year 4 cadet and my current rank is First Lieutenant. I have participated in many teams including the Raider Team the JLAB team, and of course the Drill team. I wish that by the end of the year the cadets will not only improve at marching, but also feel more welcomed as a part of the Patriot Battalion.

The Liberty Magnet Patriot Drill Team is a team consisted of the battalion's most disciplined and precise marchers. Cadets must be able to know how to march with a platoon and they learn how to do many rifle tricks. At practice, we go over marching with a platoon, commanding, and armed drill. At competition, drill team cadets are required to compete in 3 different events. Armed Regulation, Armed Exhibition, and Armed Inspection.
Held Tuesday and Wednesday
2:30-4:00 PM
During armed practice, cadets learn precise rifle movements. This includes rifle movements, marching the 23 drill commands with a rifle, and even flipping the rifle.
Held Tuesdays-Wednesdays
2:30-4:00 PM
During practice, cadets learn the fundementals of drill. This includes marching, columns, flanks and many other movements. They learn military bearings and descipline and they also learn how to concentrate and listen to commands.
Competitions are comprised of Armed and Unarmed versions of Regulation, Exhibition, and Inspection. Regulation is a series of marching commands to test the team's ability to march and the commander's ability to memorize and perform the series of commands. Exhibition is a routine where cadets must know a set rifle routine where they flip rifles and go in all kinds of formations. Inspection is where cadets are tested on their JROTC knowledge and aptitude.
